Josie participated in RunCharlottesville as a four-year-old. After warming up with a few rounds of sharks and minnows and some dynamic stretching, Josie stood on the starting line for the main event, the 200 meter dash. She had on her fast new sneakers and her trusty and aerodynamic headband. She had even pushed what she called the “power button” on the pink headband, to charge herself up to full capacity. Josie seemed ready. But this was her first official race, and all the other kids in it were older and they sure seemed big. What would Josie do? That question was answered at “Go.” She exploded off the starting line to an immediate lead, instinctively cutting to the inside lane of the track. From there, Josie opened up her stride and extended her lead. At around 100 meters, a line across the track and some cheering parents made Josie slow a bit, thinking she had finished the race. As Josie slowed, the other racers gained ground, until Josie realized there was more running to do. She kicked back into overdrive and pushed to the finish. Josie loved to run. She was undefeated in the 200 meter dash.

In honor of Josie's quick feet, Josie's Dash 2025 will be held at Burley Middle School  on March 30, 2025 from 1-2PM. Children of all ages are welcome, along with their families. Runners must be four years old.
